We are located in Lawrence, Kansas. Our office/lab space is located in the BioScience and Technology Business Center (BTBC) on the University of Kansas West Campus.
How much does it cost?
Prices are given out on a quote by quote basis. This is because each project is different and the price depends on a variety of factors including the number of samples, types of antibodies used, and if you would like us to do characterize your vesicles. Schedule a free consultation so we can discuss your project needs in detail.
How should I ship my samples?
Please use a courier that offers overnight shipping to ensure we receive your samples within 24 hours. In regard to packaging, please ensure your samples are secured, clearly labeled (name, date, volume) in appropriately sized tubes, and remain frozen at -80C on dry ice within a suitable container or cooler while in transit.
Please avoid excessive freeze-thaw cycles for samples.

Does it matter when I ship my samples?
Please do not ship on a Friday or the day before a company recognized holiday to ensure business is operational the following day to receive and store your samples. Clara is closed on: New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
How long will it take for me to get my samples back?
We strive for a turnaround time of one week from the day we receive your samples.
How are you able to elute the exosomes from the beads?
We use a proprietary photo cleavage system where we can non-chemically release the exosomes from the bead. This ensures pure, functional exosomes from start to finish.
How do you get specific types of exosome sub-populations?
We’re able to isolate any exosome subtype by targeting surface marker proteins. We believe that this is a superior way to classify and characterize exosomes.
Do you offer Characterization Services?
Yes, we offer in-house characterization services including (but not limited to) surface marker identification, size distribution, concentration measurement. Let us know what you need help with.
Are there any limitations when it comes to samples?
In terms of composition, samples can be any type of biofluid or cell culture media that contains exosomes. In terms of volume, the minimum volume is 100 uL. If your samples are smaller than 100 uL in volume, we can still process them but dilution is required to raise the volume. Let us know if you'd like to process larger samples.
How do you define yield and purity?
Yield has been evaluated by using standard exosome solutions purchased from Galen Laboratory Supplies. We used their known values as a basis for input in order to measure the output of own solutions. Purity has been evaluated through the use of NTA based on size distribution (in which exosomes are defined as vesicles smaller than 200 nm) as well as CD9 surface marker immunostaining to minimize the confusion with other membrane-bound subcellular structures. Additionally, Immunogold labeling has been implemented in conjunction with a transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to visualize the exosomes on the surface of our beads.
What downstream applications does your isolation platform support?
Currently, there are no limits when it comes to downstream applications. We have downstream analyses involving the sequencing of DNA, RNA, and proteomics in a variety of contexts that range from therapeutics to diagnostics.
Does your process include size exclusion steps?
No, we do basic centrifugation at the start of our protocols to remove cellular debris if needed. You are more than welcome to use any additional downstream processing steps you desire, but this is not necessary for most uses.
